Classification drills: build the reflex
Lesson 5 of 5 in High-Risk Classification: Art 6, Annexes I & III, and the Filter.
Classification is a skill, not a lookup. In practice you will meet systems described in product-marketing language — ‘AI-powered talent insights’, ‘smart triage’ — and you must translate each into the statute’s terms: What is the intended purpose? Which route? Which sub-point? Any carve-out? Does the filter honestly apply? Is there profiling?
Run that five-question sequence on everything below. The wrong answers are as instructive as the right ones — most real-world misclassification comes from stopping at the headline instead of reading the sub-point.
Interactive sorting exercise: Sort each system into its classification outcome.
Tool: EU AI Act Risk Classifier — Take the wheel: run the full classification wizard on realistic systems — route, sub-point, carve-out, filter, tripwire — and export a defensible rationale.
